¡Restringe Variables!

Brian Eno habla sobre retringir variables, instrumentos y estilo:
In modern recording one of the biggest problems is that you’re in a world of endless possibilities. So I try to close down possibilities early on. I limit choices. I confine people to a small area of manoeuvre. There’s a reason that guitar players invariably produce more interesting music than synthesizer players: you can go through the options on a guitar in about a minute, after that you have to start making aesthetic and stylistic decisions. This computer can contain a thousand synths, each with a thousand sounds. I try to provide constraints for people.

Start writing songs as soon as you possibly can. It’s great if you can do guitar gymnastics, but how do you work that into a song. There are all these guitar hero guys on the covers of the guitar magazines every month … They’re amazing, but you can’t think of one single song they ever wrote. I have no interest in that. Whenever you pick up a guitar, think about writing songs. Practice singing, too.

If you need to practice lead guitar that’s what you do sitting in front of the TV. Don’t be a sideman, be the guy who writes the songs. Be the guy who writes the checks, not the guy who cashes them after he does.

I play guitar to play in a band, to write music. And that is all communication, and that is what you’re supposed to do.

El Niño y su Guitarra

Billy Corgan habla sobre la Stratocaster:
You can play it in a very individualistic style and yet you don't end up sounding like everybody.

Cumbiadélica

Tengo que confesar mi falta de sofisticación undergrasa, pero esto me tomó por sorpresa.

Hacía bastante que no visitaba el superblog de mixtapes blogariddims (desde el volúmen 2 de gutterbreakz, lo confieso), y me quedé intrigado con la siguiente descripción:

¿Cumbia? Aunque me gustó mucho Cumbia Sobre El Rio de Celso Piña y Control Machete y la fusión del Chuntaros Radio Poder del Gran Silencio, suena medio raro "dubstep grime cumbia".
La verdad funciona más o menos, no mezcla tan fácil como ragga-dubstep-d'n'b pero es un estilo no tan tecnificado. Al seguir los links de magabo obtienes joyitas como estas:

Cumbia Clandestina Cumple exactamente lo que promete.

Pibes Chorros - "Andrea" - pista vazia.....?! Con el preset del korg M1 en todo su esplendor. Para mayor credibilidad villera refierase a este sinte como "el mi".



Viendo lo bien que funciona el remix de La Tortura de Shakira en reggetón-d'n'b tal vez sea sólo cuestión de tiempo para que la cumbiadélica explote.
